H.A.V.E Scholarship Banquet 2016

The following are winners of the Housing Alliance of Valley Employees (H.A.V.E.) South Texas Region Scholarship 2016

Karla Vasquez

Miss Karla Vasquez has resided under the Public Housing Program at the Pharr Housing Authority since 2006. Miss Vasquez lives with her parents and two siblings. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council Historian and member of the Southwest band. She will be graduating under the Distinguished Achievement Program from P-SJ-A Southwest Early College High School and with an Associate’s Degree in Political Science from South Texas College. Karla will continue her education at Texas State University and will major in Criminal Justice.

Yaretzy S. Charo

Ms. Yaretzy S. Charo has resided under the Housing Choice Voucher Program at the Pharr Housing Authority since 2013. Ms. Charo lives with her mother and one sibling. She was a member of P-SJ-A North’s High School band and is a member of the National Honor Society. Ms. Charo will be graduating under the Distinguished Achievement Program from P-SJ-A North High School and will receive an Associate’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from South Texas College. Ms. Charo wants to attend State University of New York College Environmental Science and Forestry. She wants to major in Environmental Science and minor in conversation biology. Yaretzy wants to become an Environmental Scientist.

Roberto A. Silva

Mr. Roberto A. Silva has resided under the Housing Choice Voucher Program at the Pharr Housing Authority since 1996. Mr. Silva lives with his mother and one sibling. He was a member of the Robotics Program. Mr. Silva will be graduating under the Distinguished Achievement Program from P-SJ-A Thomas Jefferson T-STEM ECHS and will receive an Associate’s Degree in Biology from South Texas College.  Roberto will be attending UTRGV and wants to become a Forensic Scientist.

Daniela Ibarra

Ms. Daniela Ibarra has resided under the Housing Choice Voucher Program at the Pharr Housing Authority since 2012. Ms. Ibarra lives with her mother. Ms. Ibarra will be graduating from Valley View High School. She will attend South Texas College and finish her basics and then she’ll transfer to UTRGV. Daniela wants to become an Import/Export Logistics Specialists.

Brenda Garcia (Not present)

Miss Brenda Garcia has resided under the Public Housing Program at the Pharr Housing Authority since 2000. Miss Garcia lives with her parents and six siblings. She was a member of the Military Officers of America Association where she was a Super Cadet and was named Cadet of the Year in 2015. Brenda was a member of P-SJ-A Southwest’s Orchestra where she played the violin. She will be graduating under the Distinguished Achievement Program from P-SJ-A Southwest Early College High School and with an Associate’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from South Texas College. Miss Brenda Garcia will continue to further her education at UTRGV and will like to become a Registered Nurse.
